Mini Countryman, The Not-So-Mini Mini

Source: Winding Road

BMW officially unveils the long awaited Mini Countryman next month at the Geneva Motor Show, but the pavement pounders over at Winding Road already got their hands on one. Initial reports are pretty positive; however, with 4 real doors and 4 real seats, the new Mini just isn’t that mini. For some perspective, the standard Mini has 24 cubic ft of cargo capacity with the seats down. The Clubman boasts 32.8 cubic ft, and the Countryman—a whopping 41 cubic feet. Couple that with the optional 4-wheel drive and you have, uh, um, a crossover SUV? God knows we need that…

Lexus LFA – First Drive on Real Roads

Lexus LFA

Well, Toyota finally removed the chastity belt and let someone take the 550+ HP Lexus LFA out onto the real-world mean streets. Spy Shots – Hennessey Venom GT

hennessey_venom_gt

This may not be as exciting as The Car Insider’s DeVille-amino exclusive last week, but it’s close. An anonymous tipster sent the above Hennessey Venom GT spy shot to Jalopnik this morning. There’s some debate as to whether this thing is headed to Geneva next month or not, so stay tuned for an official unveiling sometime soon. But from our information, the Venom GT is really just a grotesquely mutilated Lotus Elise destined for the Dubai garages of hot rodding oil sheiks.

Cadillac DeVille Truck Concept Spied!

Brenda Priddy, Eat Your Heart Out

Exclusive Scoop for The Car Insider! Our own photog-about-town happen to be noshing at an upscale eatery in La Mesa, CA, a quaint hamlet just east of San Diego, when this rolled by. It looks to be a General Motors test mule for the long awaited Cadillac DeVille-Camino.

The World’s Fastest (Ugliest) Commuter Car

It really is this narrow!

Okay, this is the Car Insider. We talk about cars; fast cars, beautiful cars, exotic cars, concept cars, spied cars etc. But do we care about 2-seat, green-friendly commuter cars? Fuck no! But, what if said commuter car boasted 800+ hp and 1,000 ft-lbs of torque in a 2,100 lb machine? Well, that’s a different story.

The little Tango Commuter Car is all of the above, and much more. Despite being designed for congested urban environments, the Tango can out accelerate and out maneuver the Tesla Roadster, the Porsche 911 and most motorcycles on the road. And with it’s jaw-dropping $108,000, it out prices them, too.

With a 12 second quarter-mile, 4 second 0-60 time and denture-tossing skid pad numbers, the Tango sounds like something any car lover would want in his stable—until you see it.

Fill’er Up – Next-Gen Porsche 911 Spied

Spied by Brenda Piddy

The car that Porsche built, the iconic 911, looks to be alive and well. What’s been reported as the next-generation Porsche 911, the 998, was spotted during winter testing by auto-spies extraordinaire, Brenda Priddy & Company. And, like the realization that your girlfriend is human when you first catch a whiff a deuce drop, this German beauty was caught getting gas, just like a real car.
