If you have the kind of discretionary income it takes to support a track day hobby, we salute you. Most of us just read blogs and magazines (or write ‘em) and dream about straightening the Laguna Seca Corkscrew in an Arial Atom. Of course, our stark reality reduces us to hitting 65 in a 55 zone in a Hyundai Santa Fe on our way to work.
Anyway, to help whet your track day dreams, Chevy has announced the Corvette Z06 Carbon Edition. Equipped with Brembo carbon stoppers, carbon fiber bodywork and Michelin PS2 meats all around, the Z06 Carbon will surely beat the regular Z06, but not perhaps the ZR1. You can choose 2 colors—Inferno Orange or Supersonic Blue—along with racing numbers so you can fit right in with the other lucky track-day bitches.

Once again, the crew here at The Car Insider must have slept in that day, been in line at the WIC office or detained at the Tijuana/San Diego border crossing. Because, those are the only 3 things that could keep us from missing the call to road test the latest exotic car. Damn it, someone needs to get fired.
This time it was the new 2010 Lotus Evora, one of the most anticipated rides to roll out of Chapman-ville in quite a while. Oh well, our fellow auto-journalists over at Winding Road were on the ball as usual, so today we defer to their review. Stay tuned though, we’re getting our shit straight and we’re expecting that damn road test call any day now...

Spy-Photog Extraordinaire, Brenda Priddy, has spied the up and coming 2011 Audi A7. Out hot lapping some remote frozen lake in Bavaria (how do we get that job), the coolest thing on the heavily-camouflaged Auto Union speedster is what looks to be an automatic spoiler. And, this new sled is reportedly getting a 300 hp supercharged V6 under the hood, so our advice to Bimmer and Benzo—take cover!

0-60 in less than 4 seconds, 408 ponies, 295 torques, paddle shifters and a 7-speed gear box—sure as hell sounds like a Lotus to us. But wait, this one’s a hybrid. A fucking Lotus hybrid—are you crazy?! What would Colin think? Well, we gotta tell ya, with numbers like that, Colin would love it! It’s called the Lotus Evora 414E Hybrid; look for it to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

BMW officially unveils the long awaited Mini Countryman next month at the Geneva Motor Show, but the pavement pounders over at Winding Road already got their hands on one. Initial reports are pretty positive; however, with 4 real doors and 4 real seats, the new Mini just isn’t that mini. For some perspective, the standard Mini has 24 cubic ft of cargo capacity with the seats down. The Clubman boasts 32.8 cubic ft, and the Countryman—a whopping 41 cubic feet. Couple that with the optional 4-wheel drive and you have, uh, um, a crossover SUV? God knows we need that…
