Camaro Z28 Blitzkriegs Bavaria

Flexing some modern American muscle overseas, the long-awaited Chevy Camaro Z28 was spied tearing up the Nürburgring in Germany. Even better, the Camaro crazies over at Camaro5 caught the whole thing on tape.

Camouflaged in what looks to be a Cheap Trick paint scheme, it’s hard to tell if it looks much different than the standard Chevy Camaro. But, listen closely and you’ll hear 550 patriotic ponies belting out some new world thunder at full gallop. Wunderbar!

New Lambo: Built To Beat the Clock

Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Blancpain Edition

Super-ultra-luxury car maker, Lamborghini, has teamed up with super-ultra-luxury watch maker, Blancpain, to create the Swiss watch of automobiles, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Blancpain Edition. Unveiled just yesterday following the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race series finale at the Vallelunga circuit in Rome, the new car is expected to run like a watch.

The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race series bills itself as the world’s premier league of gentlemen’s racing. Which means the new Blancpain Edition Gallardo is merely the newest toy for super-ultra-luxury rich guys to go racing against in against each other.

On to the particulars: At 2954 lbs, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Blancpain Edition is the lightest road-going model in the Lambo range. The 570 horsepower puts this beast at a minute-hand above 5 lbs/horsepower with a 0-60 of 3.4 seconds. That is so fast, that you’d need a $600,000 watch to actually time it.

The Name is Martin – Aston Martin

As the highly-anticipated Aston Martin One-77 inches closer to launch (literally), company execs continue to put out some teaser information. Today, they announced that the new One-77 possesses a bat-shit crazy 750 hp and 553.2 ft-lb of torque generating powerplant beneath its sculpted aluminum and carbon fiber hull.

That makes this bugger the most powerful regular production naturally aspirated engine on the planet. Now, that may sound like a lot of qualifying, but damn it, once you hear this thing roar, you’ll want one, too.

Lamborghini: The Supersportscar Manifesto

lamborghini_logo

Ah, the manifesto. No public declaration of intention or principle is as powerful as a good old-fashioned manifesto. And, history has seen a few of them. Karl Marx rose to power through his Communist Manifesto, IBM embraced the internet through their Get Connected Manifesto and now we have perhaps the greatest manifest ever—Lamborghini’s Supersportscar Manifesto.

In a nutshell, Lambo is promising to keep their cars uniquely styled and instantly recognizable as always. But the surprise twist in their new edict is to place more emphasis on acceleration and handling and less on top speed. Heresy, you say? Well, don’t worry.

The former tractor maker says that even the slowest modern super car is already too fast for any road or track. So instead of giving us more top speed, they’ll just focus on getting us to that top speed faster—sounds like fun to us. Here’s the complete Lamborghini Press Release.

Me and my Aero

SSC_Ultimate_Aero_II

Why in the hell would anyone put 1,350 horsepower in a 2,600 lb plastic car? Two reasons actually: 1, to reclaim the world’s fastest street legal production car record. And 2, because life begins at 250 mph.

The new SSC Ultimate Aero II from Shelby Super Cars is possessed with a 6.8-liter V8 with a screaming 9,000 rpm redline. The company expects it to hit 60 in 2.8 seconds and, get this, a top speed of 275 mph! That is certainly enough oomph to squash the current speed record held by its arch nemesis, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.

Of course, Top Gear magazine gets first dibs on pictures and the inside scoop, so for more info, check out their October 2010 issue that hit newsstands yesterday.
